Who Are We?

Family Action South Africa is an organization of lay Catholics concerned about the moral crisis shaking the foundations of our societies. This organization is a civic, cultural, and nonpartisan non profit organization, drawing its inspiration from the doctrines of the Catholic Church.

The association advances its goals through the promotion of the religious teachings, tenets, doctrines, morals, and observances of the Roman Catholic Church and their application to individuals, families, and society at large. Foremost in this regard is the defence and nurturing of the family institution - the "mother cell" of society - so degraded and assailed today by a multitude of evils. We hold also fundamental to the family's existence and preservation, the role played by wholesome tradition and the private ownership of property.

Family Action South Africa pursues these objects in the realm of ideas, in a legal and peaceful manner, by means of: research and studies, internet, mail, radio, television, advertisements, and other media of communication. Also through the publication and distribution of books, magazines, newsletters, and pamphlets, public petitions, position papers and open letters, public rallies, seminars and meetings, formation programs for youth and adults, and cultural exchange programs with similar organizations in other countries.

From the standpoint of Roman Catholic Canon Law, Family Action South Africa is a private association of faithful formed by a free agreement among some of the faithful (canon 299 §1) exercising their right to freely found and govern associations for charitable or pious purposes or to promote the Christian vocation in the world (canon 215). To imbue and perfect the temporal order with the spirit of the Gospel (canon 225 §2), or to animate the temporal order with the Christian spirit (canon 298 §1). It works so that the divine message of salvation becomes known and accepted by all persons throughout the world (canon 225 §1).

Central to the Family Action South Africa mission is the idea that the various crises threatening South Africa society, the Church and indeed the world, cannot be seen as separate and disconnected elements. Rather they originate from a single cause, a single fire... The epic study Revolution and Counter-Revolution by Plinio Correa de Oliveira masterfully traces the historical and philosophical roots of this single cause - a phenomenon called The Revolution, whose tentacles have crept into every facet of man's existence, driving our societies to chaos and ruin. When first published, the book attracted major interest, eliciting endorsements, including plaudits from high Ecclesiastics.
